Beautiful hotel in a most quaint village on the Rhine - the staff were all most friendly and accomodating. The breakfast was magnificent, and the one dinner we had there superb - just extremely expensive. We decided to upgrade to a bigger and more expensive room with a view of the river, which was beautiful (the "Prince room" we had booked was quite small).
Rates were rather high, especially considering low season, but essentially worth it for the high quality of our stay. We were, however, very disappointed to be charged a (very high!) late check out fee, considering nobody was to occupy the room that day (and we had paid for a bigger room than we had booked!) - this left a really bad taste after an otherwise faultless experience! The hotel also advertises a free lift to/from the station - we did not ask for this at all (despite going to and from the station daily, often in the rain), and when requesting it on our last day ( with luggage on check out!) were told it was not possible.

The hotel is qiuet, rooms are ok
Booked.net says, there is wifi for free in the allthe rooms of the hotel. That is not thru, some rooms has no access, and if you want on the internet, you should go to the public areas, or to buy internet (what expensive is)

We enjoyed the stay, the staff was extremely friendly, and the place itself is really special with a unique atmosphere. Breakfast was great as well (loved the extra touch of the champagne). Would love to return without the kids for a romantic weekend.

The atmosphere was very cosy and luxurious, the staff was superfriendly, and we really liked the furnishing and the interior decoration.
Yes! the prices at the restaurant were too high! a bit out of the range! Even if the food was good and the presentation was beautiful.

They have a wonderful restaurant with a great chef. The food and service were great. The hotel is very quaint but recently remodeled.
There is no air conditioning, so be prepared to open the windows and deal with the mosquitoes and the chiming of the local church bells.

Contemporary fresh design. I also liked the cinema room on the second floor which you can book in advance free of charge and choose whichever film you wish in any language. The location is superb overlooking the lake and the food excellent.
The restaurant food was expensive even considering the higher costs for food and drink in Switzerland.

Our King Room had a great view of the river via large windows. Free wifi worked ok in our room at the front. Lovely to hear the church bells. Gottlieben is a very quiet village, but the Rhein ships dock outside and the rail station is only a 10 minute walk on a quiet road.
On our first night, out of 3 (not 2 as this site says), there was a very noisy birthday party which took over the hotel & outside terrace, still going at 0015 with loud singing. Not what you’d expect from such an expensive hotel and made it pointless being right on the quiet water. They need to decide if they really are a high class hotel. There is no bar area and the only public bit that you could sit in is a smoking room. During the day try the Seebar 30m along the river instead. A massively strong spotlight shines right into the bedrooms at the front at night, so that all curtains have to be shut. The EUR 25 breakfast is nowhere near as good as you would expect. We actually had to ask for eggs. The food was very average and service painfully slow, with no sign of the separate gourmet restaurant, only the Stube on the ground floor. For dinner, the restaurant in the Waaghus metres along the river is a better bet.

Design of the hotel is marvelous and so is th elocation. Priva cinema is great. Each room has it's unique interior design. Good choice for a sophisticated vacation. The hotel sits right next to the river and the view is refreshing.
Staying there in August we had a serious trouble with having no air conditioning or even a fan. The temperature on the third floor right under the roof was unbearable. We had problem with the internet, as it was not possible to reach the wifi in our room compared to other rooms, which was quite discriminating. And probably the biggest problem was the church bell, which rings every quarter of hour and was really close to our window. I had no problem (except the 10 minute ringing in the morning), but my friend couldn't sleep all night.

Comfort and silence
Restaurant: too long intervals between dishes
